If you’re a parent, you already know how it goes:one minute your play mat looks clean and calm. The next? There’s juice on one corner, snack crumbs somewhere else, and your little one is still happily playing like nothing happened.

That’s completely normal.

And the good news is — keeping your play mat clean doesn’t have to be complicated.

Why cleaning your play mat matters

Baby play mats are made for real everyday life — tummy time, snack time, story time, building block towers, and all the little messy moments in between.
Over time, everyday use can lead to crumbs, spills, dust, and general buildup on the surface.
Regular cleaning helps:
• Prevent dirt and spills from building up
• Keep the mat feeling fresh for everyday use
• Maintain the softness and comfort of the surface
• Create a cleaner play space for little ones
• Help extend the life of the mat over time

How to clean water/milk/juice:

Spills are just part of life with little ones.

One minute everything is clean, and the next there’s milk dripping off a sippy cup or juice somehow everywhere except inside the cup.

For small spills and everyday messes, we recommend spot cleaning rather than machine washing to help maintain the mat’s softness and overall structure over time. You can gently wipe the surface with a damp cloth or use a mild soap-and-water solution for little accidents and sticky spots. After cleaning, allow the mat to fully air dry before using it again.

And honestly, cleaning spills sooner rather than later usually makes the whole process much easier.

How to clean snack messes and deeper spills:

From crushed crackers to juice spills and sticky little fingerprints, bigger messes are just part of everyday family life.
For larger spills or deeper cleaning, you can absolutely use a Green Machine or a similar carpet cleaning machine on the mat.
We recommend using a gentle setting and avoiding oversaturating the surface, as too much moisture can affect the inner cushioning over time.
After cleaning, allow the mat to fully air dry in a well-ventilated space before using it again.
Because let’s be honest — snacks never seem to stay in one place for very long.

What we don’t recommend

To help your mat stay in great condition over time, we do not recommend:
• Machine washing
• Soaking or fully submerging the mat in water
• Using bleach or harsh chemical cleaners
• High heat drying
These can affect the inner foam and overall structure of the mat.

Built for real family life
