Plush Flannel Wide-edge Baby Play Mat 1.5" Thick – Non-Slip, Splash Resistant

I ordered this for my now 5 month old baby to assist her in learning to crawl, roll, and sit up. The mat is memory foam-like, and is very soft for my baby (versus her sliding herself around directly on our carpet/rug). The height is about an inch or so, and if she tips over, I don't worry about it hurting her.We unfolded it and let it sit out for a few days to gain it's shape. What I like about this play mat? It is thicker than other mats, a lot of softer and more comfortable. It is not machine washable, but it is waterproof so it can be easily wiped off. I just wish it was bigger and covered more floor area. It comes vacuum sealed, so it doesn't take much room initially. After removing the package, it will take a lot more room once folded over to be stored, but at least it's very lightweight.

While this perfectly thick and velvety soft mat is recommended for the floor, we have been using it on my bed even more! The only reason it's not on the floor more is because our shih tzu thought it was his own personal new bed. While on the floor, it didn't slip or slide at all on vinyl or wood flooring. My sons and I have been using it on my bed for extra luxurious movie nights. The surface feels so plush and it wipes clean easily, if you spill your snacks on it. When we first opened the packaging, there was no nasty chemical smell at all, which was a nice change of pace from the usual "new fabric smell". It didn't take more than 2 days to go from vacuum-sealed, pillow sized cube to fully fluffed, evenly textured flat mat. At the current price point, I think this would be a great investment for a baby shower gift or as a new parent, because the size is just right for a small child to be able to move about and play on freely with plenty of room. The price is a good value for what the product is.
